Boeing has taken more punches than a prize fighter these last few years.
- This grounding continues to affect about 50 of United's older 777 craft with the older PW 4077 engines, that use hollow titanium fan blades weighing 23 pounds each.
The spectacular engine failures (which ripped apart the cowlings) have demonstrated the extreme safety hazard from this engine's fan-blade-off events with SEVERE unbalance trying to yank the engine off the pylon.

The perfection required of every single aircraft part/component these days is astronomical. It is simply amazing how it can even be achieved to the standards it now has!
After all it is designed to hurtle through the air thousands of feet above the ground. It SHOULD be near perfect.
