Another critical issue is the value of the used A388s. Singapore and Emirates both keep their aircraft about 10 years and this date is soon to be upon us. I suspect that with the large volume of the interior these aircraft could be appealing to the likes of UPS, DHL and FedEx. Ground handling may be a limitation. If this is not a viable solution the overall cost of ownership will be impacted by low "trade in" or resale pricing. It will be interesting to watch!

I think the conversion to a freighter would be very costly. You'd need to add large cargo doors on two or even three decks, and you would probably want new cargo pallets to take advantage of the huge interior space.

Actually not that difficult. Existing doors are good for most pallet items. Of course you could re-configure it - but it's not neccesary.

Good point. I think the resale market otherwise will be very limited
