Sacrilege! I was able to get a flight on a Goodyear blimp about 1970 when I was a student at the University of Texas at Austin. It was the neatest experience, more like sailing than flying.
I too got to ride one on an occassion... Was an interesting ride.. Made more noise than I expected, but it was fun...
I had a chance to ride on the Goodyear blimp when I lived in Atlanta. It was a terrific experience and was so quite. We flew around the city so quietly for about 45 minutes. All my co-workers were very jealous. Can't really say it was fun (I much prefer aerobatics in a small plane), but it was awe inspiring!
