Bah Humbug: The American Airlines MD80 is Retiring This Week, Should We Even Miss It?
Andy makes the case for why the MD80 was special. There will be many who strike a similar chord. I am going to respectfully disagree. (viewfromthewing.com) और अधिक...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Yes. A classic airplane. Still see the -83 derivative quite a bit @ TCL. World Atlantic Airways just used two -83’s on two trips along w/an Atlas Air 767, two Swift Air 737’s & a National Cargo 757 to repatriate cruise ship passengers from MSY to MiA when their cruise ship diverted due to Dorian
We often forget how it used to be: I used to live near the Long Beach airport and would never set my alarm as an Alaska Airlines 727 would take off every morning right over my house and rattle the windows so much, the dead couldn't sleep. I was so relieved when they started buying the MD-80's and I could sleep through a take off. I did, however, start to be late for work then.
No.
I shouldn't have been so brief. I spent ten years in the cockpit and many hours riding in back. "Should We Even Miss It?" ...No.
Yes, you should miss it. The 73 Max probably won't be flying until sometime next year. So if you value AA's service (or lack thereof) and don't want further cancelations and fare increases, then you'll definitely miss the MD-80!
Great, classic, and unique aircraft that will be missed.
