Just because you have not seen it does not mean it's not a viable design. Kamov has been building co-axial counter-rotating rotors for many decades. True it has a lot of moving parts, but it has NO tail rotor. Tail rotors fail more often than main rotors. I would fly in one any day. Although if I had to maintain a chopper again, and I had the choice I would choose a Kaman (egg-beater layout) over the Kamov (co-axial counter-rotating).
