Sam... more mystery here... I'm seeing a FAA registration # of NL9584Z (N9584Z) stenciled onto the fuselage underneath the tail's horizontal stabilizer... which shows as a 1945 built Grumman TBM-3E, mfg s/n 85882, on the FAA registry. Has this one changed recently?
sam kuminecz
I saw it 5/20 and the stencil said N4171A, http://flightaware.com/resources/registration/N4171A

Sam... yeah, I see that one too (N4171A). It's listed as a TBM-3E, but with mfg s/n 91521.

N9584Z is showing a different mfg. serial number and with a valid FAA reg. #.

Do we have two Grumman Avenger birds here?

Cliff looks like it, 2 Dif planes same markings one is 7 and other is 25 for ship numbers

Sam, those two links for the airport-data.com photos show the differences and similarities quite well... thanks for sharing that research with us! The canopy on #25, sans the rear turret, is one I don't see very often.
sam kuminecz
Agreed cliff, possibly a ex firebomber from Canada. I'll have to research the serials

Sam... I'm looking forward to reading about what you discover!
