McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom 2 (72-1494)
Low, slow and dirty. LRAFB Airshow, September 2012
Comments
I didn't realize the Air Force version had tail hooks. The last American F4 I've seen on our ramp at RAF Mildenhall was probably 1991. I was a MAC guy, I mainly saw cargo aircraft.
Tail hook! Yeah, odd that it's in 'jungle drag'. *shrug* For fighting in swamps?
Many fighter aircraft have a tail hook of some kind, regardless of being carrier based, for arrested emergency landings.
Robert, this aircraft wears its historical SE Asia camo pattern from Vietnam, since this was a heritage flight and demo.
