This is a good illustration of the power provided by military aircraft compared to civil passenger planes. My Favourite TV program is Air crash Mayday. Several crashes were caused when the aircraft enter an aerodynamic stall, like Air France Flight 447 that went down over the Atlantic. When stall warnings were received the pilots tried to gain height by applying full power and lifting the nose. This caused the aircraft to lose more altitude. Many civil pilots come from the military where they are used to aircraft that provide power like these.
