EPIC 8 !!
Fantastic, the most beautiful plane ever produced.
what is it and where is it?
Dear Ethan,
it is a McDonnell Douglas DC-8-71 C/N 45977/373 delivered June 1968 to United Airlines as N8087U.
The picture was taken from the viewing area (observer deck) on Terminal B at Frankfurt/Main Airport
in Germany.

That's when planes (stretched DC-8) got longer now they are wider
Had one flight as a passenger on a stretch DC8 on a military contract flight. It was in 1968 a flight from Yokota AB Japan to Anchorage to Travis AFB. It was a very smooth flight and if memory serves me right, most of that flight we were flying above 40 thousand feet. The highest part of the flight we were at 45 thousand feet. Service ceiling says 42 thousand but our flight at sometime during the flight reached 45 thousand. That was the highest I have ever flown.
