Operators of Airbus A320-family jets are being ordered to remove disks from certain International Aero Engines V2500 powerplants after an uncontained failure resulted in an aborted A321 take-off. Southwest Airlines said flight delays Tuesday morning were the result of “data connection issues resulting from a firewall failure,” a problem that led to a brief ground stop. On January 6th, a United Airlines Boeing 767-300ER flying from Newark to London reported that it had lost its navigation capabilities after climbing to 17,000 feet. American Eagle flight 3829, operated by Envoy Air with service from Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) to Chicago (ORD) diverted to Indianapolis (IND).
