Dear Mr. President, We, the undersigned, wish to see a revitalized and strengthened Federal Aviation Administration. In the wake of the Colgan Air Flight 3407 crash, delayed pilot fatigue rulemakings, the furlough of 4,000+ FAA safety inspectors and other employees in Summer 2011, and the continued stalemate in Congress over long-term funding, the FAA has been through a lot. The FAA needs a steady hand who can guide it through uncertain times. We can think of no better person than Captain… (www.flyingmag.com) More...Reporters & fans track wrong plane via FlightAware

But something funny did happen in Lawrence late Sunday night. Because the local reporters probably did what pretty much every crazed fan following a team's coaching search does, some unsuspecting family ran into a swarm of cameras at the airport. In all likelihood those who showed up to the airport checked FlightAware. (www.sbnation.com) More...First Dreamliner retired

It’s been just a couple of weeks short of two years since Boeing’s first 787 Dreamliner lifted off for its initial flight from Everett’s Paine Field, but that same plane shortly after 9 a.m. today took off from Seattle’s Boeing Field for what could be its final flight. The aircraft, ZA001, was headed for the desert at Palmdale, Calif., where it will lose its Rolls-Royce engines and be put into… (blog.thenewstribune.com) More...TSA Agent Caught With Passenger's iPad in His Pants; Allegedly Took $50,000 in Other Goods, Cops Say

A passenger screener at Philadelphia International Airport is facing charges that he distributed more than 100 images of child pornography via Facebook, records show. Federal agents also allege that Transportation Safety Administration Officer Thomas Gordon Jr. of Philadelphia, who routinely searched airline passengers, uploaded explicit pictures of young girls to an Internet site on which he also posted a photograph of himself in his TSA uniform. Homeland Security agents arrested the TSA… (articles.philly.com) More...Duke of Cambridge makes water landing in Canada

Prince William has landed a Sea King helicopter on water as part of a demonstration of a search and rescue manoeuvre which is carried out in Canada. The prince was watched by crowds who braved the rain to see his flying skills in Dalvay-by-the-Sea. The Duchess of Cambridge was also watching from dry land. Canada is the only country which trains its Sea King pilots to perform 'waterbird' landings and the duke performed it for the first time. PHOENIX - We hear a lot of complaints about security screeners groping airline passengers.
