It was many years ago, but my recollection of seeing my first 747 was at SFO (San Francisco International Airport) with a Pan Am logo.

My first 747 flight was a UAL flight from SFO-HNL. It was akin to arriving into Honolulu in a Limousine.

At least we can rest in the knowledge that if she's anything like the DC-10, she will be gracing our skies on cargo flights for decade to come.

It was a bittersweet moment for me, but was glad to see and hear the CEO thank all involved employees past and present for making this great lady a reality. To echo a statement made, "fair skies and following winds to this great lady, and her siblings". My personal thanks to Joe Sutter, and all the "Incredibles" for making it possible. Forever new frontiers!

My first 747 flight was I want to say Tower Air back in 1984 when I was 13 and as a UM. LAX-DFW-STL. Crazy routing. One of the flight attendants and one of the pilots gave me a tour if the cabin and flight deck while we were at DFW. I wish I knew what I did with those pictures.

With airlines committing to A330’s to fill need. Maybe reconsider. W/USAF, GOING TO NEED MORE AIRCRAFT FOR LOGISTICS TO EUROPE FOE Army stuff, might first look at needs for logistics contracts. If Turkey leaves NATO, DOD assets will be flying longer routes. With US Navy needing and wanting high sea state , water based logistics aircraft, might look at 747 wing on top, internal withdrawn logistics container, consisting of inflatable top shell on float load platform, with integral frame ducted fans, or Apu’s driving water jet propulsion for self docking, un-loading of container. Maybe w/aircushion lift only to bring onto beach. Look to Oshkosh will provide new and Recap'd PLS trucks and trailers, HEMTTs, and HETs. The initial delivery orders call for a total of 353 new and recapitalized vehicles. Ret.Major, Logistics. USAF AND USAR
