JetBlue ended service after 20 years @ LGB. I Think it is just Southwest and Delta Connection left at LGB plus mostly General aviation flights

Quiet and nice, not commercially viable.

Shame, it is a pretty nice, quiet iconic airport.

I wonder if this is connected to AA's dropping of Mesa as a regional carrier?

It was first reported as pilot shortage, now its under performance ? Delta remains with only service to SLC - But SWA is even serving HNL once a day, and has one full side of the terminal.

I used AA LGB - PHX after dropping off my car for shipment to Hawaii. LGB is extremely convenient for that. I hope they return.

Such a shame. JetBlue greatly improved the airport terminal with the promising understanding that flights might be expanded and international routes added. After all of that, the City Council of LGB voted it down and Jetblue understandably parted ways. Typical of CA to operate like this having lived there for almost 25 years.

They will be back once the economy resets. LAX and SNA are just 20 miles either direction.

I love flying out of Long Beach. Classic older terminal with modern amenities. Easy parking & fast TSA lines. I'd fly out of the more if more flights to choose from & pricing were a bit better.
My understanding is that the City has restrcitions that affect airline profitability

I always paid extra to fly AA on business out of LGB instead of SNA or LAX. LGB is far more convenient. The restaurant in the old control tower was a plus.

They're not fleeing California, just LGB since it has a much lower volume. American anyways only had like 3 flights a day into LGB when they already have a much greater presence at SNA and LAX which aren't too much further away.

Their flights into LGB were on Mesa CRJ-900s as well. I imagine Mesa ending their contract with American and focusing solely on flying for United Express also contributed to this.

And which regulations would those be?
