After 20 years, a computerized system was finally installed to track Afghan military personal. Over 58,000 "soldiers" immediately disappeared. A huge portion of the money spent in Afghanistan went to corrupt officers and politicians. I think the soldiers would have fought, if the food and equipment they needed had actually reached them. The administrations of Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden all threw money at the problem, but there were almost no audits of where the money actually went. Only a few NGO's could tell where their donations went. This is the hidden failure of our efforts. When you give away money with no accountability, Afghanistan is what you get.

The Taliban more than likely had made two calculations. First, if Trump was re-elected there would have to be a gradual long term takeover. To them Trump is a wild card. They couldn't be sure how this unconventional, flamboyant infidel might react. If they provoked him with their current "Blitzkrieg", the US reaction might certainly be a major set back to their strategy. Their second calculation, if Biden is elected all they have to deal with is a typical career Washington politician with a long track record of foreign policy fence sitting and appeasement. If you voted for team Biden, you indirectly gave the Taliban the green light on this fiasco.

Kabul was handed over to the Taliban. The Taliban didn't take it

The real story here is not the fall of Afghanistan but rather the fall of the United States of America. Meanwhile we all still just walk around faces glues to mobile phones as if nothing is happening.

More like Jimmy Carters 1979 Tehran weakness that gave rise to the Iran theocracy. Followed by the military genius Obama's Iraq pullout that gave rise to ISIS caliphate.

An incompetent and arrogant commander-in-chief Joseph Biden cant find his way to the bathroom, but found an inept way to abandon Afghanistan, now under control by Taliban mullahs.

Just a friendly reminder that Trump was the one who initiated the withdrawl. Biden simply upheld America's end of the bargain.

Good try...WRONG. He took the advice of his advisor and left military THERE! Try as you can, it was YOUR BOY (Weekend at Bernies) Biden who removed them. Not Trump. Nothing you can say can change that. NOTHING.

“I started the process. All the troops are coming back home. They couldn’t stop the process. Twenty-one years is enough, don’t we think? Twenty-one years. They [the Biden administration] couldn’t stop the process. They wanted to, but it was very tough to stop the process.”
-Trump, June 26, 2021

“The job of the American military is to secure and defend our country. Two days ago, the United States signed a deal with the Taliban so that after 19 years of conflict and very close to 20, we can finally begin to bring our amazing troops back home.” — Trump, March 2, 2020

If withdrawl was Biden's choice alone, Trump seems to be taking alot of credit for it, wouldn't you say?

You're reading us (from the teleprompter) a spinmeister Apologist for the military blunder by the commander-in-sleep responsible for the final military decisions.

The buck stops right there. Maybe time to invoke 25th amendment, promote the VP with such extensive military acumen, eh ?

Biden, as incompetent commander, ignored the military recommendations to keep a modest residual force about 3500 personnel.

The Taliban walkover sadly continues the pattern of the Tehran and Baghdad blunders.

That didn't seem to stop #BeijingBiden from reversing every other Trump arrangement, border wall, Iran deal, Paris Accord, NATO, and on and on. This suggestion is laughable and a largely contributing factor to the ongoing decline of America.

There is no way we should have walked away from those people after the loss of so many Americans.. not to mention a TRILLION dollars flushed down the drain now.. what a complete failure of the Democrats and Joe Biden.. this will go down in history as a rose loss than Vietnam.. it would have been more humane to have lined those people up and shot them.. now Sheria law is coming back as we talk about this.. just awful situation we put our country in 20 years ago, but we just quit on those civilians. How many terrorist will this produce in the future!

as stated in the treaty, May 1 was the withdrawal date, Biden actually held on a little longer to see if it was possible to nation build, decided it wasn't and broke the withdrawal date by 3 months . . .

Watch the videos. Its all about the politics of this debacle. Perhaps you would prefer to keep it all about the pet topics of extreme weather and flight-shamming?

Dont hold your breath.

Some of my anger is directed to all the U.S. Administrations for pouring money into a country that refuses to even defend themselves!!! Billions of $$$ spent to train them - for 20 years! And our government constantly telling us they are trained but they need more, and more, and more. The guaranteed those they are training could defend themselves. Hundreds of thousands of trained police and army. Pussies. Cowards. Such bullsh_t. But...THIS disaster is all on Uncle Joe (Weekend At Bernies) Biden. What a utter disaster HE is. God Help The U.S.!!!

We need to at least consider that these "cowards" and the loss of equipment, weapons and supplies were part of a well conceived plan.

Over 70,000 Afghan security forces killed in the war. No, they were not afraid to fight. We were not willing to make sure we got what we paid for. Finally, 3500 support personel and an airbase had the Taliban at bay in the hills for the last two years and could have maintained the status quo until we were absolutely sure of the Afghan military's abilities and our next step. Trump understood that. There was no rush. To knee-jerk it out overnight for a symbolic display in September was lunacy and will leave America less secure and with a black eye for decades to come.

Reminder, Trump wanted it done in April. Biden SLOWED the withdrawl by four months.
