Chinese team test jet engine ‘able to reach anywhere on Earth within 2 hours’

प्रस्तुत

Scientists in China claim to have built a hypersonic jet engine—called "sodramjet"—that can fly at 16 times the speed of sound. This means that an aircraft kitted out with such engines could fly anywhere in the world in two hours, according to the scientists. (interestingengineering.com) और अधिक...

Well having an engine that will go Mach 16 is great ..... now develop an airplane/airframe to go with it that won't melt and can carry a useful load.
I suspect the only thing that will come out of this will be a hypersonic missile of some sort.

This headline is ridiculous...jet engines don't fly; airplanes do. It as a LONG way from a engine design - no mater how powerful - to a fully functioning aircraft.

Yes, it may be a long way, but you can get there very very fast at Mach 16 :-)

I was thinking the same thing.

This is the aviation version of vaporware.

Let's see 24, 900 miles in circumference, 2 hours,
so around 12,500 miles per hour.
Oh yeah - THAT is surely practical!

Ah! So they’d be able to send Kung Fu flu anywhere in the world in two hours...interesting.........

Only if they have stolen it from someone else, and if anyone else had one the world would know it. There are two countries with aerospace technology capability to do such a thing, and China is not one of them

I wouldn't be so sure of that. They copy, but they also innovate, so I have no doubt that whatever engine they claim to have is theirs, and was developed in China.
