प्रस्तुत

2020 Iditarod Champion Thomas Waerner and dogs are finally heading home from Alaska to Norway after Covid-19 delayed their return when the race ended in March. Their ride is a historic aircraft that was purchased by a flight museum. Those were really good old windmills. I would gladly fly on them today. Too bad they are so rare. I'm sure the FAA cringes at the thought of any of them carrying pax.

Last flight was listed as 15:44 in duration. Is that possible, even with fuel pods?

My first flight was on one back in December 1946. Nonstop Boston to Washington, American Airlines, 2 hours and 5 minutes as scheduled. Fare for a minor: $10.00.

As a pilot, I loved the DC-6.Used to fly from SEA to BIL with 6 stops between. Fun flying.
I detested the DC-7

I was a passenger in a Greenland Air DC-6 in Greenland in 1971. They also flew DC-4s back then which were unpressurized.

Flew in one many times out of Wiesbaden AB when I served in USAFE in the late sixties. Comfortable old bird that had probably been in the Berlin Airlift.

This is a heartwarming story of international cooperation to both save a historic aircraft and safely ferry a Norwegian Iditarod champion and his team home after horrific circumstance stranded them halfway around the world.
