NASA’s X-59 supersonic jet is cleared for final assembly

प्रस्तुत

NASA's experimental X-59 jet, which could make supersonic commercial travel a reality, has been cleared for final assembly. The X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology (QueSST) aircraft, designed by Lockheed Martin, could take its first flight as soon as 2021. This is NASA's first large-scale, piloted x-plane (or experimental aircraft) in more than three decades, and its goal is to reduce the loudness of a sonic boom to more of a sonic thump. When the long, slender jet transitions to… (www.engadget.com) और अधिक...

Talk about tripping over a tow bar!

Those that didn't read the clickbait won't get it, and some who did will realize that no one but a NASA employee or contractor will ever tow it. Hmmmm, think how long it will have to be on an aircraft that actually carried some pax. based on that POC 250 mil. gift to LM. Ike was right, in more ways than one.

Definite military application for this, yet Europe will scream that the US Govt will gift the technology to Boeing as an "Illegal subsidy".

It seems a long shot (womp womp) that it will ever be viable for 'commercial transport'. Do all of the passengers sit single file? How would they get into their seats? What about restroom access? Do they issue flight diapers for each person?

Towing is would be hysterical. It would end up being longer than it would be wide! The tow bar would be HOW LONG? Or the plane would sit HOW HIGH? Or would they have to provide driven wheels to move it around airports. Wow... Obviously there are 'details to be worked out'.

A needle shaped plane isn't likely to be practical for mass transport, but I can see it being all the rage of the .1%. New York to Bermuda in seconds? Kentucky to Moscow in minutes.

I seem to recall that supersonic commercial is already a reality. It’s so old that it’s only a memory. Never mind the fact that it failed! I’m waiting for the reality that someone can actually write an accurate article.
