South Korea Orders Asiana Airlines To Suspend Flights To SFO For Deadly 2013 Plane Crash
SAN FRANCISCO INT’L AIRPORT (CBS SF) — Asiana Airlines has been ordered by the South Korean government to temporarily stop flying to San Francisco International Airport, following last year’s crash that killed three passengers and injured more than 180 people. Too little, too late. The Korean government needs to force the Korean airlines to adopt cockpit procedures that reflect flight in the twenty-first century. As long as co-pilots and others are afraid to speak up when a senior captain does something stupid, Korean airlines will continue to have a horrible safety record. I am aware that the seniority issue is a culture issue and it will not go away. But how else can one explain that two other pilots watched the pilot in command allow the airspeed to bleed down below stall speed with the throttles at idle?
I think the issue of culture and not questioning the senior captain was responsible for the crash of a 747 out of Stanstead quite a few years back in the UK but cant say for certain it was Korean airlines but certainly from that area,
It just makes me so Mad still, . You send your daughter to camp and 4 idiots in the cockpit having a party kill her ! And the exemption from drug testing for foreign pilots is insane. We know this is mainly a automation and cultural problem but nobody in that cockpit should be allowed to fly again. Who cares if they cant fly SFO for a while, the statement from Asiana should have included the plan for a training program overhaul. You can fly the same route on United, oh yea ... and a sterile cockpit wasn't just a good idea - it could have been a life saver here !
The plot thickens...

That is how I land an aircraft. Only I make sure I am over the numbers first.
On a serious note, I am all too aware of the culture that contributed to this accident, and have been critical of the airline for allowing it to continue. I would like to see the government require a pilot who is a native English speaker in one of the seats.

Stupid solution!
