LOL, I love the media transcript. "EGF4069 3-4-5". I think maybe it should be "3 FOR 5", as in thousands. Gotta love their lack of knowledge for what they talk about, and blowing everything out of proportion in aviation. Not at all suggusting this was a minor incident though.

You have to like the way the talking heads link the tail strike and the gear problem. Unless it was the same RJ I don't see how.

So is this why a KAL 747 landed on 4R Thursday at around 9:40a CDT, 10 being closed? Only the second time in years of commuting past ORD that I saw a 747 land on 4R.

And all the talking heads running their mouths about American's problems. Any time that you have a concentration of anybody's equipment at a hub, chances are if there is a problem, it will belong to one of the carriers concentrated there, and AMR definitely has a concentration of equipment at O'Hare.LOL

Now, we go back to the SWA737 yesterday with the compressoer stall or whatever, from LAX-LAS that had 41 pax, the Eagle that got it's tail clipped at O'Hare from Springfield MO that had 18 on board and now this flight to Tulsa tha had 28 pax on board. Is anybody watching the store or is this dirty laundry just getting aired out when something happens? These may be isolated cases but they can't help but pull down overall capacity figures, and then folks wonder why they ain't making no money!!! Love him or hate him, Anderson at DAL has the right idea; cut the flights until capacity maxes out on what's left.

I have no idea what the premise of your statement was.

737 and the 1st Eagle weren't but about 1/3 full / and this one barely half full. Ain't no wonder nobody's making any money. The thread actually started a couple of days ago on the 737 FA story and then went into a 2nd string and now here.

well maybe it's a good thing I didn't get to finish my flight training on my first go at this rate it seems like there is going to be an employment line 50 miles long filled with furloughed and displaced pilots...and those are just the current F.Os and F.Es...looks like we are no where near the bottom of airlines needing to cut jobs.

I don't think it's as bad as you think. Even with dumping 50 seaters and reducing some capacity, overall there will be demand for air travel (especially when the economy is finally fixed) and there should be decent demand for pilots. Most regionals, except the two in bankruptcy, are consistently hiring right now.

Tim: go ahead. As Mike says, most are hiring. My comments are just calling attention to why they are not making any money. Somebody needs to pull their head out of their hiney.

If you take the time to look at the FlightAware Insite Statistics for this American Eagle flight, it shows the average percentage of seats filled at 81%. This days flight was below average but I'm betting they can make good money at the 81% average and that also keeps people employeed.

Well, 86% of what. What equipment type is normally on it? Lot's of difference between a 50pax and 70-90pax. I don't think at 86% they are making a lot of money, if any. 86%full is 14% empty and thats too much.

Plane veers off runway at O'Hare, no injuries reported

A commuter plane veered off a runway at O'Hare International Airport this morning but there were no reports of injuries.

American Eagle Flight 4096 had taken off from O'Hare bound for Tulsa but the pilot reported problems with the landing gear and returned, according to Elizabeth Cory, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane touched down on Runway 10 around 8:40 a.m. and "veered off the runway," Cory said.
