United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby’s Nose Is Growing On Seat Back Televisions

प्रस्तुत

United Airlines didn’t just announce a major aircraft order today, they pitched a plan to offer a more premium flight experience. A symbol of that plan is to offer seat back entertainment screens to all passengers, not just on new planes but retrofitting the existing fleet as well. (viewfromthewing.com) और अधिक...

But didn't Untied start the whole industry drive to remove 'entertainment' from planes? Are they seeing people fleeing their seats for airlines that do provide a distraction for their passengers? It would have been cheaper to leave the equipment installed and build on it than remove it all, to end up having to reinstall it. Oops...

Back in the day the equipment was old and bulky... I remember when we had Tube Monitors and VHS Tapes on them... I remember back in the day we (Avionics Department) when all the work was done we had a job card that we would go do, gave it a number and everything and the supervisors never caught on. We told them we had to do a "Functional Test of the IFE system using the VTP and the PSU's" AKA... In Flight Entertainment, Video tape Player, Passenger Service Units... Functional Test meaning to use it as if it were in flight... In short, we would go to the plane sit down and watch a movie!
