KSJC has fifth most laser strikes on airplanes

I fly in the KSJC area and have been at the receiving end of one of these laser hits. It's not a pleasant experience.

Do those laser hits have an effect?

Chicago-O'Hare is 1st place. I'll still fly San Jose, their new terminal is awesome. If you wanna fly to the Bay Area San Franchicsho has to many weather related delays and Oakland is fourth for laser strikes, so KSJC is your best choice.

Flying at night requires letting your eyes adapt to the low light conditions... getting your "night vision." The laser hits are a blast of high intensity light that destroys night vision, leaving the pilot unable to see clearly at best, and can damage eyesight at worst. Fortunately, when I experienced a laser hit last year, I only unable to see clearly for a minute or two. But, that still made for an unsafe condition, in a very busy airspace.
