My guess is that she tried to go past a checkpoint. There appears to be a "Do Not Enter" sign knocked over in the top right of the screen.

Great story and video. I hope he received an upgrade on his way home. It's nice to see somebody taking action when needed. Thank you, officer.

His immediate action saved the TSA agent from further injury. Thankfully there are people like him ready to defend against criminals at any time. He did exactly the right thing by stopping the attack, putting the suspect on the ground and signaling for help. Atta boy.

I think that the term "criminal" is a bit extreme for anyone who gets into it with TSA...there have been many times their ignorance and incompetance has pushed me right to the limit. Once...at ORD one did not like where I was walking, he put his hands on my shoulders and I lost it...what made HIM stop is when I told him that I was at my destination and he could f**k off. Right at the moment I said I was where I was going he let me pass (this was in a construction area a few years ago in the United terminal). This woman was probably just driven to a point by one of the ignorant TSA idiots. Just my point of view.

Are you kidding? You can't possibly justify this type of physical attack. I bet the court will not see it as a justifiable reaction.

The police officer, returns to work, from his Hawaiian vacation, on Saturday, April 6 .. in the quiet town of Pinole, Ca ... Local news reports state, these were all TSA officers, seen in th e video, meaning Federal employee .. possible Felony charges for the attacker.

Very true. It is a felony to obstruct or attack any federal employee while that employee is on duty.

Other TSA workers just stood there and watched!!

Knowing our judicial system, the cop will probably get in trouble.

A couple of hours ago, I went through PHL on an airline flight. I have to say that I wish that woman was there to choke this TSA asshole that spoke down to me. The only reason I bit my tongue was that I had 10 mins. to get to the gate!!!

Just be polite to them and they will be nothing but helpful and polite to you (excuse my while I puke)....Just remember - at least you can pass a GED - something they are not required to do.

As an aside, the story says the police office handcuffed the attacker, implying he carries his handcuffs while on vacation. Hmmmmm.

Assault? Who did what first? Watch it without the sound, without being told 'what happened' . . I saw was the TSA worker trying to restrain the civilian. Assault? Really? Think for yourselves people.

too much force attack didn't look that bad, this cop watched too many DIE HARD movies LOL
davidostertag
David Ostertag 2
I seriously hope you're kidding. The only "force" he used was to disengage the woman from the TSA agent and take her to the ground until uniformed officers/security could arrive. Assaulting a Federal Agent is a felony no matter what. He could have done much worse. Well done, Corporal.

It looks like the person that was being attacked is a baggage screener, I don't believe they are federal agents.

Yes, they are FEDERAL Officers.

99.9% of the problem. They are not much more than a kid at a theater checking tickets...on an ego trip...knowing that they can ruin your trip. (Note: I have an irrational hatred of TSA as I know with rational fact that they have not made me safer on any flight to anywhere...just ask El Al)
ChrisUS
ChrisUS 2
I disagree. I saw somewhere last year alone the confiscated like 1800 guns from passengers. I have several friends at TSA and none of them try to ruin anyone's trip. They are professionals and get along great with the passengers. Maybe that's juts in my city but in my travels I have found most to be courteous and professional. Have I ever run across across a jerk? Yup, but I've had that with every profession. Unfortunately, those are the ones who get the press and people are MUCH more prone to believe something negative they hear over anything positive.
RECOR10
RECOR10 2
You must not be near ORD or MDW. And of those guns...how many were hijackers? Um...none, they would have made national news. They show all kinds of things. Then there is Santa Barbara..as a (former) pro cyclist they would open my bike boxes and tear them apart - then not properly repack them (breaking two bikes)...and tell me if I complained I would be in federal prison. None of them could form a proper sentence let alone be rational (nor afford to live in Santa Barbara for that matter). I look at every one of them as a GED hopeful on a powertrip - too bad the sequester did not rid the tax payer base of their witless cost - and replace them with El Al style security (that is proven to work)...but, what do facts have to do with anything?
THRUSTT
THRUSTT 1
I don't understand, why would you be in Federal prison if you only complained about broken bikes?
RECOR10
RECOR10 3
Nor do I - but, had I crossed a line while watching ignorant fools try to repack a ($15,000) bicycle - that was the threat levied. "You cross that line you dun gunna be in Federal prison"...watching a 250lbs woman bouncing on a bike case to close it. I am a rational person. I get it (and have a military family including folks flying FA-18's and 46's). TSA is a fools effort to prevent yesterdays crime...and done by the lowest 10% of society.

I know a few folks who work in ATC and my family owns a jet - from being in a terminal to knowing the guys at ATC and another friend who owns a business who upgrades electronics in aircraft. - and having flown El Al....I know for certain - TSA needs to be fired front to back ASAP - replaced by local agents from the airlines (who will be more diligent) and functional rules. The same is true for the FDA - McDonalds for instance will ALWAYS serve safe food...if they dont, they are done. The best security (and part of the functional plan) is the rest of the passengers who will never again let a plane go down with box cutters.
ChrisUS
ChrisUS 1
I have found that when I treat people with respect, I am treated accordingly by them for the most part. I would like to see the US adopt El Al's procedures also for safety sake but they profile passengers and that is illegal in the US Here's a quote from their website:

"Economy Class Passengers – You should arrive at the check-in counters 3 hours before the scheduled departure time as listed on the flight ticket.

Business Class, VIPs and First Class Passengers – You should arrive at the check-in counters 2 hours before the scheduled departure time as listed on the flight ticket.

Please Note:

Late arrival at the check-in counter may deprive you of your rights to benefits, including those provided by virtue of the Aviation Services Law (Compensation and Assistance for Flight Cancellation or Change of Conditions), 5772 – 2012.
In light of the above, and since the security check must be completed before you reach the check-in counter, it is recommended to arrive at the airport about four hours before the scheduled flight departure time."

People balk at being at the airport 1.5 hours in advance as they are requested now. How many would show up 3-4 hours on advance? El Al also interviews every single passenger. How many agents would be required to be on the government payroll to accomplish this at major airports? LOL!
RECOR10
RECOR10 1
El Al does not interview all travelers - and they do profile (as do we). But, in the act of profiling we also pat down grandmothers and babies...to infer that we dont profile. That fact is when stereotypical people behave in a stereotypical manner - only in the US do they get up set they are stereotyped. Possibly you are thinking of when you are going into Israel - that is another whole ball game - and they as a ton of questions. Quick quiz - you know what airline has never had an attempted hijacking?
THRUSTT
THRUSTT 1
El Al has been hijacked if that's what you're getting at...

It is irrelevant that they are professional, nice, pleasant, good natured, etc. They are strip and body searching thousands of innocent persons with zero probable cause --- innocent persons who have done nothing wrong and show zero evidence of having done anything wrong --- innocent persons who have every right to be where they are and move where they are moving. The TSA violates the fourth amendment daily. The TSA violates daily basic human liberty, liberty which is and should be at the core of this nation.

Yes. Fourth. Duh.
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
ChrisUS
ChrisUS 1
Well, the KEY word there is UNREASONABLE. If you read the signs at the airport, when you pass the guy who looks at your documents and you put your stuff on the belt, you are agreeing to search.
RECOR10
RECOR10 1
The search is and of itself is a violation of the 4th - the same stipulations that make your vehicle part of your "castle" as it would be. Law enforcement has no right to search any person who are not suspected of a crime - and with evidence behind their suspicion.

Then again - many of the TSA folks I have met are just angry people who are happy they got their GED and thus a job on the Govt. rolls....I wonder what Ronald Reagan would have thought about the TSA - he sure had at beef with ATC....

mbarker12474

Which is inherently unconstitutional. One cannot voluntarily give up an inherent right. Neither can the government rightly give you the opportunity to give up that right. The search and the sign are both violations of the Fourth Amendment, and both are offensive to human liberty.
