Government sues Apollo 14 astronaut over lunar camera

प्रस्तुत

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. government has sued a former NASA astronaut to recover a camera used to explore the moon's surface during the 1971 Apollo 14 mission after seeing it slated for sale in a New York auction. The lawsuit, filed in Miami federal court on Wednesday, accuses Edgar Mitchell of illegally possessing the camera and attempting to sell it for profit. In March, NASA learned that the British auction house Bonhams was planning to sell the camera at an upcoming Space History… (news.yahoo.com) और अधिक...

This represents everything that is wrong with the government. Do you really think he would try and sell it if he 'stole' it?? This suit is a waste of taxpayers money.

Agree, what a wast of taxpayers money and time over a stupid camera from the 70s. I would think that it belonged to ther person they gave it to and not NASA anymore. A better question, why whould they do this now and not earlyer? They probly knew that he had this camera.

After 40 years, it is a big waste. Some bureaucrat is probably jealous because he might be making some money.

WOW, Ridiculous
I better let my Dad know about this so he won't try to sell his WW2 issued military gear....If the government gets it I wonder where it will end up.

What has our country come to? Dr. Mitchell is and was a patriot, Makes me upset that I spent four years of my life serving this country so they could go and sue an 80 year old man over a camera! I am positive NASA hasn't been looking for that camera for 40 years

Obama probably needs the cash so him and the little woman can take another
trip on us tax payers.

Guess Mr. Mitchell is hard up for money. Let me get this logic: If you salute the flag, you get to steal (Wow, take about deja vu, feels like I am in the Great Resession again).

I'd guess NASA in addition to proving the current leadership fools, are going to spend far more in this suit than the bloody camera is worth. The thing I find laughable is that the originators of the suit probably weren't even born when this man was walking on the surface of the moon! I say a letter writing campaign is in order to assist NASA in regaining their grip on reality!

As for me personally I think this law suit was faked.

Why would NASA just by the camera from the auction and keep it this time.
