Military families traveling on Government Orders reclaim those baggage costs from the DOD. They may be out of pocket for a while, but they get them back. The new rules save money for DOD.

Good to hear, this seems to be the number one area that is left out of negotiations when these mergers occur. Just yesterday the Corps announced that all Marines will have an accompanied tour with their family. (Yes I know some of my fellow old die-hards will remember when CMC said "If we wanted you to have a family they would be issued." Laughing not anymore guys.

>>>>>>Lowering costs for service members and their families: The two airlines must lower costs for the nation’s military and their families, a significant population in both Alaska and Hawaii, by waiving certain fees. Both airlines will update their customer service plans to provide at least one free standard carry-on and at least two free standard checked bags for service members and their accompanying spouse and children. They will also waive change fees for service members and their families who reschedule flights due to a military order or directive. <<<<<<<<<<

This sounds like a good deal for Hawaiian, our one major interisland carrier.

It remans to be seen wheter Alaska's plan to have Hawaiian pick up some Boeing Max 10s to replace aging Airbus 330s will be a move in a good direction.

I can see the new Paint Scheme now. One side to be painted in Hawaiian Airlines Paint Scheme and the Alaskan Airlines to be painted on the other side... or better yet, save the money, and just put the new name and keep the existing paint schemes... Similar to what SWA Does with some of their special paint schemes!
