WHEN AIRLINES STARTED EXPANDING SERVICE AND INCORPORATING REGIONALS,AS WELL AS OPENING UP NEW ROUTES (IN THE 1970'S/80'S)MOST IF NOT ALL WERE DOING THE MAJOR HUB AND SPOKE THING,WHERE ALL ROADS LEAD TO DFW TO CONNECT,OR ORD OR ATL..POINT TO POINT WAS FOR LONG HAULS OR INTERNATIONALS WITH NO STOP IN BETWEEN NOR ANY CHANGE OF AIRCRAFT..SOUTHWEST HAS BEEN USING HUB AND SPOKE FOR A FEW YEARS AS WELL,WHERE YOU MUST GO THROUGH DALLAS LOVE AND CHANGE PLANES..ITS ERELY A MARKETING CONCEPT TO INCORPORATE MORE AIRCRAFT,MORE EMPLOYEES AND MORE DESTINATIONS TO A ROUTE STRUCTURE..

Dallas LUV is a different story, not hub and spoke. They have to run so much traffic through there due to some weird law that was written to benefit American Airlines... They also could not fly flights over a certain distance...
