A later report goes on to say the likihood that laptops contributed to the event were not probably as would other devices. The plane apparently climbed 300 feet before making the nosedive and the black boxes are being investigated for specific information. With electronic control of aircraft, it is possible that the electromagnetic disturbances of devices can have an effect on nearby electronic devices. Instead of people being in such a hurry to get on with their lives, they should take being a passenger on a commercial flight as a chance to unwind and relax instead of trying to play catch-up with all their electronic gadgets they absolutely must carry. When I get tired of looking out the window (doesn't happen often) I find a good book or crossword just the thing.
