American Airlines to furlough 25,000

प्रस्तुत

merican Airlines (AAL.O) said on Wednesday it is sending 25,000 notices of potential furloughs to frontline workers and warned that demand for air travel is slowing again as COVID-19 cases increase and states re-establish quarantine restrictions. American, with more than 130,000 employees in 2019, had already warned that furloughs would be hard to avoid as pandemic-hit revenue remains more sluggish than the airline had hoped. Among different work groups, warnings are being sent to 2,500 pilots… (reut.rs) और अधिक...

The comment about saving and having an emergency fund would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic American posted a 380 million net profit at the end of 2019 yet needed covid relief like this.....American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL) announced today that the U.S. Department of the Treasury has approved $5.8 billion in financial assistance from the Payroll Support Program (PSP) created through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The funds, which are targeted to support team member salaries and benefits, will come in two forms: a direct grant of $4.1 billion, and a low-interest rate loan of $1.7 billion. In addition to the $5.8 billion, American expects to separately apply for a loan from the U.S. Treasury of approximately $4.75 billion.

and this guy tells workers to have a larger emergency fund, just bizarre.

Sorry to my former industry friends, it is the nature of the beast.. very tedious for the lower senority folks.. wish all well and a big return to travel next year..

My suggestion.. have a larger emergency fund and fall back skills for basic home costs.. dont over buy when times are good.. it's how we survived job losses over the years..

As Gilda Radner said as a character on older episodes of "Saturday Night Live", "IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING". So it goes with the airline industry.

I worked at the A.A. Flight Academy for 30 years and retired in 1996. I still miss it. It is very sad to see all the airlines in this situation, except for China Air.

this comes after last week united furloughed 36K.
not good.
what will next week hold for delta announcement?

I'll try this one more time. United has furloughed no one. They MAY furlough as many as 36K. They issued a federally mandated notice, that's all. American has now done the same. Delta will do likewise and it will be interesting to see how many notices go out.

Unfortunately I fear justice will never truly be done for what happened..if we ever do hear the truth, I am sure it will be appalling. The WHO 'experts' in China will come out empty handed big time, deep down it is evident there was a massive cover up

People BEG for Globalism (One World Government) and they are ignorant as to 'what', exactly, that will entail. There will be NO NEED for 'flight crews' & airport workers since only a SELECT (VERY) FEW will be ALLOWED to fly/travel. The writing is on the wall, yet people refuse to SEE it! Just like HUMANS are being replaced in factories, fast food joints, grocery stores, ect, by 'robots'. WHAT do people THINK the outcome will be??

Some beg for the craziest things, but I've seen no huge outcry for one world government. It seems the voices in your head were released. Also you should get that keyboard looked at the caps lock key seems to have lost control as well.

Ed, you are not a decent human. Why waste time here and set some fires and do a little looting instead.
