Video: First Air Canada Airbus A220 Performs Maiden Flight

प्रस्तुत

Air Canada’s first Airbus A220-300 performed its maiden flight from Montreal-Mirabel, in Canada. The plane rolled out of the paint shop at Bombardier’s Mirabel facility in November. Air Canada is the North-American launch customer for the A220-300 and will eventually take delivery of 45 planes. The carrier also has 30 options to exercise, all of which will be used to replace the airline’s oldest Airbus A320 family aircraft and its entire Embraer E190 fleet. (airwaysmag.com) और अधिक...

Nice size comparison, with the MD-11F right behind it.

What's with the little flap open upwards on the right tail area, just under the vertical stabilizer?
Air intake for the APU maybe, but was it open in flight?

Affirmative. It is the APU Door.
It is part of any maiden flights normal test procedures to keep it running until subsequent test points at 15000 ft.

??? It does have the "bandit" black mask on the cockpit

But not the raccoon version selected by some airlines that slopes downwards. Google: airbus raccoon pictures

OK I see what you mean - the black frame that is standard on the A350 and appearing on other Airbus a/c. The Bandit mask on the Air Canada A220 follows the design layed out in the new livery applied to all Air Canada jets

yes u are right about std approach to date but believe there was an opportunity to add a bit of "zip" to an otherwise and somewhat bland livery. Too many f&*king accountants and old-style marketers on board AC. Gives me the impression they just like where they are in the market and/or too afraid to rock the boat. Ahhhhh, , , , the good old days of Zoom! Cheers.
