A former Ukranian MiG-29 fighter has become the second privately owned MiG-29 to fly, taking to the air over Washington six years after it left Eastern Europe. Yeah those Russians are sneaky. They came to visit a certain aircraft company I worked for. We were told we would not even speak to them. Which was okay by me.

Love the story about how the russians reverse engineered the metalurgy for the turbine blades in the first MIG. Visiting the plant where they were made in Britain with gum-soled shoes the Russians were able to reverse engineer the components that had adhered.

We had a MIg-29 at Mojave a few years a ago. It was a Ukrainian AF aircraft also.Part of the North American Tour Got some pictures of it in the air and on the ground.
As an aircraft inspector I was oarticularly interested in looking over the construction of the aircraft. Found bi-metallic corrosion around the fasteners as well as other anomalies. Soviet aircraft might go faster, highewr etc. but US workmanship is better

For a short time, MIG-29 can be seen "up close" at HISTORIC FLIGHT FOUNDATION, SE KPAE.

Cool. I hope everything will check out right. It'll be great to see this plane fly in to Boeing Field over the summer!
