Boeing has to decide for the 797: Comfort or Freight Capacity?
Chicago - Boeing has to answer a critical question before starting the nine-billion dollar development program for its new mid-market airplane. Whose needs should be met with the new aircraft? Major American airlines want comfort while the Asians want more cargo space. (airlinerwatch.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Oh for crissakes stop deluding us. The minute this thing rolls out of the hangar the airlines will do all possible to try to cram 400 seats into this thing.
A passenger aircraft's built primarily to move passengers and their baggage from point A to point B. Freight capacity should be secondary concern. If you have to move freight, buy a freighter!
like Rosana R'osana-donna (gilda radner)used to say, "nevermind". I neglected to recall the improbabilites with making an airframe having more cargo capacity. We gotta put the passengers, in sufficient numbers, somewhere on the plane. so Nevermind...
Whatever Boeing come up with, every airline that buys this plane will do its best to squeeze as many thin hard uncomfortable seats into it. Comfort??? Not likely.
Just wondering... what design number will the next one be?
"7117"? Or, start over with the 707? It's at least a decade out but who knows?
