Is this some kind of throwback? Stretching a 1970s airframe, 4 engines and a 3-person crew.......the 747-400 was more advanced than that and they’re being retired on mass due to their age and inefficiency

There are many used A346's available, some with fairly low cycles.

Really?.. The TU-154 was a mid-1960's design and first flew in 1968. Have you seen the interior(s) of the Antonov AN-148?, Ilyushin IL-114 and the IL-96? The Sukhoi Superjet 100? The Tupolev TU-204 and the TU-334? The YAK-42? Google it.
