Boeing Delays 747-8 Freighter To Mid-2011

Boeing Co. said Thursday that the first delivery of its 747-8 freighter would be delayed by about six additional months as it fixes several design flaws. The Chicago-based manufacturer is also adding a fifth plane to its flight-test fleet. The company said it discovered a low-frequency vibration during certain flight conditions as well as problems with the performance of the aileron actuator, which helps the aircraft turn. That's a shame! But they've got to get it right. The dash 8 looks like a winner....let's hope Boeing's union folk stay off the picket lines long enough for this big beautiful bird to take flight next summer!
