Video of Russian Tu-95 bomber shadowed by RAF and French fighters

First post ever to FA, but found this video fascinating: a film inside Tu-95 as it's escorted by RAF Typhoons and French Mirage jets over northern Europe. (www.youtube.com) और अधिक...

I am sure we have B-52's flying race tracks off their coast also.

A wonderful clear video, up close, of the counter rotating engines of the TU-95. Never having seen one up close at an air show, I can't believe how large they must be. Interesting also that the props almost look like they are in the feather position but you can hear the prop noise on the video. Nice work!

"you feel like your back in the 80's during the Cold War!!!"

Or the '50s, '60s or '70s. I guess I have a few years on you :)

Artifact, look near the engine, the hub is turning much faster.

The older I get the more world politics seems like the entire globe is still in junior high school-all bluster and macho bullsh*t. They have no intention of engaging in hostile action and neither do we...we just follow each other around, both sides flexing their muscles and wasting time and money.

One thing the Russians do is counter-rotating props. Fixed wing and helos. It does have some advantages. The video looks that way simply because of the shutter speed of the camera. Probably an iPhone :)

Most unusual. I'm so used to seeing photos of the Bears from the cockpits of our guys. Must be a new Cold War on the horizon. I have read that the Russians are starting up their old tactics of probing the defense of the potential "enemy".

Not unusual at all. And the cold war was a sham.

To say the cold war was a sham, you're what, 16 years old? It wasn't a sham for the 22 years I was in it. But you aren't interested in what it was like, only what you think it was like, I guess. Good luck with your history lessons.

Having spent many, many hours on nuclear alert, and many more hours on long patrols in good ole BUFFS, I have to take exception to your comment.

What a cool video!!! Even though the RAF Euro fighter date it, you feel like your back in the 80's during the Cold War!!!

Do the props really turn that slow, or is that an artefact?

Digital high speed video will look like that if the frame capture rate and prop RPM matches up.

WE WERE BEING SHADOWED BY THE RUSSIANS BACK IN 1956 OUT OF THULE GREENLAND FLYING KC-97'S ON REFUELING MISSIONS WITH B47'S. AND IT WAS ALWAYS 'RADIO SILENCE' ONE B47 PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WOULD ABORT HIS MISSION EVEN IF HE HEARD A 'MIKE' CLICK...HA!

Having spent time escorting Tu-95Ds, its nice to see what it looks like from the cockpit of the Bear.

Not so sure that I see the B29 heritage that clearly, unless a long, narrow fuselage bolted to a completely different everything else is the connection. However, I have always admired the profile, size, and demeanor of an airplane that has enough propellers to beat the atmosphere into submission. For it's day and still, it goes incredibly fast and high,PERIOD. One of my old Learjet crew chiefs used to say "props are for boats". I guess this wasn't on his radar!

Finding the apparent high pitch angle of the props very interesting!
