Delta apologizes for sending separate kids to the wrong cities

"You think you had a bad day when you fly to one city and your luggage lands in another. But an airline mixup on Tuesday sent two children to the wrong cities." That's how the Minneapolis Star Tribune leads off its story about a "paperwork mix-up" at Delta that resulted in the airline sending two unaccompanied minors to the wrong cities. Delta says the children -- unrelated and traveling on separate itineraries -- "were connecting through Minneapolis-St. Paul… (travel.usatoday.com) और अधिक...

once again I find myself completely amazed and furious. This is a service which is paid for. Airlines need to step up and keep their part of the deal. For far too long the airlines charge for services and then barely deliver if they deliver at all. ANY other business would fail miserably if they provided the same quality of product and customer service. Why, as intelligent travelers and business people, do we not demand the same from the airlines as we do from any other business? It really is time to take a stand and say enough is enough. At least Delta apologized and tried to own up to the issue instead of waiting to see if they would HAVE to respond. Thanks Daniel.

At least they didn't lose the kids this time and offer the parents a $200 voucher

And why didn't the kids speak up and say something? They can't put ALL the blame on the airline!

I guess I'll speak for myself here. It seems that customer service people are always working by themselves handling big loads. However, the airline will always blame the employee who's responsability was to put the correct kid on the right flight.Part of a lean and mean corporate structure? I'm glad delta apologized.

Delta is one of the worst carriers, as far as customer service is concerned. My wife just returned from Rome, and at the check-in, she found her checked bags to be 6 pounds overweight. She tried to put a few items into her carry-on, which was almost empty, but THEY WOULDN'T LET HER DO SO, citing security reasons (She hadn't gone through security as of yet), and then proceeded to charge her $193 for her overweight bag. When I complained, they more or less said "too bad" and offered 5,000 miles on her sky miles account. I told them what to do with their miles and canceled our sky miles accounts on the spot. I just re-booked a group that I am taking to Africa in October, taking them off of Delta and putting them on British Air. BA not only met the fare, they beat it by $100 a person. Goodbye, Delta, been nice knowing you.
