I hate to differ... It is a Jet, it is a "PROP JET" Referencing "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prop_jet" which states: "A turboprop engine is a turbine engine which drives an aircraft propeller.[1] " Where as a Turbo Fan or Turbojet Referencing: "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo-jet" The turbojet is a jet engine, usually used in aircraft. It consists of a gas turbine with a propelling nozzle.

Bottom Line:
Turbo Prop the Gas Turbine Engine Turns A Prop
Turbo Fan the Gas Turbine Turns a Fan

"Jet" in common usage means turbofan or turboprop. So while you might be technically correct that turboprops burn Jet-A, referring to a turboprop as a "jet" is a stretch of the truth, as anyone who has bounced through the FL200s in a King Air well knows.

And your wikipedia link redirects to turboprop. "Propjet" is marketer-speak to borrow cachet from the word "jet" that isn't really meaningful to aviators.

Any way you spin it... The Jet Engine is either Spinning a Prop or Spinning A Fan... One has many blades encased, the other has a few much larger blades not encased... Still a jet engine driving and that makes it Jet Service.

Agreed. If it uses Jet-A fuel, it's a jet.

By that logic, the Skylane JT-A (Cessna 182) is a jet, and so are lots of building-grade electric generators.

Burning kerosene does not a jet make.

It absolutely is Jet Powered.... A Jet Engine Turns The Prop... A Quote direct from the Cessna Website:

"“Cessna’s new Turbo 182 delivers a solution that the marketplace has been asking for,” said Jeff Umscheid, Cessna 172, 182, 206 business leader. “The 230 horsepower Jet A engine offers customers increased range and greater payload capacity and does not sacrifice performance."

Note "Jet A Engine"

It is absolutely not jet- or turbine-powered. It is diesel powered. It uses pistons, same as your car or truck.

I stand corrected on that, I overlooked that it was a diesel... But any aircraft that has a "TURBINE ENGINE" is JET Powered with a Jet Engine...

If I were to book a flight that had a leg on a Q400, it shows the following remark: "Note: Flight XXXX is serviced by a non-jet equipment type.". Because it is a turboPROP.

A sign posted in USAir Ticket Counter... ALL Jet Service with Bombardier Dash 8. The Prop is driven by a Jet Engine... I am not going to get into this again, but if they say Non-Jet then that means they have no clue what they are talking about. A Turbo Prob is a Jet Engine turning a Propeller instead of a FAN... I am sorry that so many people in the industry do not understand this...
