I've spent thirty five years in the AF & ANG, and there is no doubt in my mind that the Blue Angels make the thunderturds look like crap in comparison.
Are military airshow type squadrons REALLY a good value for the tax payers? I understand these Blue Angels cost American tax payers nearly $50 million per year.
In my opinion I would rather have this tax money spent on something perhaps more necessary or important.

It's a significant recruiting tool that motivates a lot of people to join the military, so I'd imagine that they see it as a pretty valuable expense. Compared to the overall military spending, it's a relatively trivial expense too. Cutting back elsewhere in the military would probably yield larger savings.
They also bring in Millions of dollars to local charities and to communities where they fly. They cost less in recruiting then a full page add the NY Times Yes they are good value for the taxpayer if you only had a clue how many jobs come about due to the Airshow Industry as a whole you would not even question the Value.
