What's 'Premium Coach' Worth?

प्रस्तुत

More airlines are offering a way to escape spartan coach without buying pricey business-class tickets: an increasingly popular mid-tier class called premium economy. Among international carriers, premium economy can be downright swanky, with larger seats, upgraded food service over coach and privileges such as dedicated check-in lines, priority security screening, early boarding and expedited baggage handling. Domestic carriers aren't as generous, but there is more space—from 3 to 5 inches… (online.wsj.com) और अधिक...

I personally love these seating options. A terrific article on the topic.

As a frequent flyer I always try to Book United just for Economy Plus. The extra few bucks (I'm 6'5") is worth it to me. I also enjoy the ATC talk on Ch 9.

Used EVA for quite a long time due to their economy plus service. It was in the front of the 747's which is normal business class, but was just a little more roomy than United was. It only took one trip to figure that one out because the flight I was taking was the United ORD to HKG flight and their economy was really tight for a 6'2" 240+ pounder. The EVA flight was mainly from LAX to Taipei then on to Hong Kong. I love the Asian airlines as they know how to treat their customers and are always on time. After I finally got enough miles with NWA I started using upgrades in their MSP, Narita, CAN segments which were business class. I did not see EVA in the article though? It is really a great airline and I highly recommend it for those who want to be economical and receive greater than average service.

Since I'm 6'5" I always am willing to pay extra for the leg room, it would be nice if they gave you a free drink or something for the extra $19 -$59 United charges you for it domestically. I was glad to see Delta adding "economy comfort" but really sad to see Southwest reducing pitch by adding more seats. I haven't had the chance to try any International premium economy products yet but Air France's sure looks sweet.
