Bombardier Business Aircraft unveiled two new aircraft on Sunday, the Global 5500 and Global 6500, which it claims offer the smoothest rides, largest cabins and longest ranges in their class.

Expected to enter service in 2019, the two aircraft are capable of flying between 500 and 600 nautical miles than their predecessors, the Global 5000 and Global 6000, as well as offering up to 13 per cent improved fuel burn. The new Global 5500 has a maximum range of 5,700 nautical miles, while the Global 6500 can fly for up to 6,600 nautical miles.

This puts flying between Hong Kong or Singapore and London in the range of the Global 6500, while the Global 5500 would be able to connect Sao Paolo with Paris or Moscow and Los Angeles, according to Bombardier.

Both aircraft are able to reach speed of Mach 0.90, and feature Bombardier’s smooth ride technology.

From an experience perspective, the aircraft feature redesigned cabins including a patented Nuage seat designed “for maximum comfort and effortless movement”, and a lounge chair option in the form of the Nuage chaise, which converts into a flat surface for sleeping or dining.

The aircraft also feature ultra-high-resolution entertainment systems and “safe access to baggage” throughout the flight.

“Bombardier’s two newest Global aircraft are the result of our unrelenting commitment to innovation, excellence and most of all, our desire to delivery unmatched capabilities to our customers,” said David Coleal, president of Bombardier Business Aircraft.

The Global 5500 currently lists for US$46 million, while the Global 6500 is listed for US$56 million, Reuters reports.

Both aircraft “boast operating costs that rival all other aircraft in their class”, according to Bombardier.
