BUFF!

Wish I could see one near Albany, NY ! In the early 60's they were often flying by. Even B-47's around that time. Of course Convairs, DC-6's and Electra's were too !

Brings memories of my days at KDYS in the 80's, a SAC base where we as MAC (C-130's) were tenant, so SAC ruled. When the alert klaxons went off, you had to stop on the roads and if you were in the barracks, you went out to the fire escape to watch the "Elephant Walk" and if they actually took off, you would know your world was over.

I'm not a real fan of military aircraft but this aircraft is magnificent.

I used to live in Wichita where they were built. I've seen scores of them (and B-47s) and I'm still in awe every time I see one now.

Had 3000 hours in that beast (G model) "fighting" the Cold War. Barkdsdale AFB, LA and Wurtsmith AFB, MI. A challenging mission to say the least. Lot of fond, and some not so fond, memories!

My brother flew these out of Minot and Barksdale. He was awesome enough to get me into the sim at both locations. I have 2 landings (and one mid-air collision with a tanker!) I could put into my logbook!

Got to play with these in the frozen north, Why Not Minot

I live by Barksdale Air Base where they are stationed and never get tired of hearing or seeing them!!!

My brother and I were born at Plattsburg AFB and 5 years later, my sis was born at Barksdale AFB. I swear I see pics of my Pops when they show documentaries of The Cuban Missile Crisis as he would be working up targets lists for the BUFF pilots that were on alert.

Got to fly in the C and D models during the late 60s out of U-Tapao; ECM. We jam the sam was our motto. Magnificent aircraft. The tail actually starts flying before the wing does.

As perennial as the Tupolev Tu-95 Bear!
