Tupolev Tu-154 (RA-85785)
Comments
The six wheel gear reminds me of the 777
It was a very nice plane, it's a shame that we hardly see any more.
The reason for the triple bogie gear is because of the crappy runways in the Soviet Union in many cases not hard coat paved just gravel
Back in the 90's I had a flight on a Tu-154 from Frankfort to Riga, Latvia. I had arrived in Frankfort from the states aboard a 747, so the Tupolev wasn't exactly inspiring. But it was a reasonably comfortable and uneventful flight. When we landed in Riga, all the passengers (mostly Russian nationals) erupted in thunderous applause and cheers. I concluded that they must have known more about the Tu-154 than I did, so I joined the celebration. Pretty sure I saw flasks (vodka?) pass among a few of the celebrants. The thing that stands out in my memory of that plane was its corrugated rudder.
