The best passenger aircraft ever built! She was roomy, comfortable, quiet, handled like a dream and was one of the safest aircraft ever!

I flew aboard Delta's livery of this spectacular aircraft over a dozen times in the late 70's and early 80's, mostly to KFLL and occasionally KMIA from CYUL.

I really miss seeing her in the skies.

She was the best and will always be my favourite!

Thanks for posting this, you made my day.

Totally agree John. I also loved that plane. In the 80ies I flew also around 10 times with it mainly on long haul out of FRA towards Asia, with a mandantory stop somewhere in the gulf region. Bahrain for example which was just a strip of asphalt in the middle of nowhere at that time. One time I was flying with Germany LTU-Airline on a very special version of the L101 with a huge lounge in it's belly. This lounge was located in the front compartment. It was open to the main deck with a staircase leading down. Very special.

Thanks for posting! Many fond memories flying on the plane that was before it's time. Also remember many conversations with fellow engineers comparing this design to the DC-10.

Awesome vintage Posting John....

Loved the L-1011 as a kid from Delta landing in my hometown of Cincinnati.

Wonderful airplane. Only had one flight, the most comfortable airline flight ever, from London to Atlanta in the late 80's. It was a before its time aircraft.

Flew round trip from ATL-BRU going to/from TDY @ SHAPE in Belgium in ‘96.

TWA used to fly one out of Indy everyday. I think it was flight 100 to STL and then LAX. There was nothing like hearing those Rolls Royce engines starting up and I can still remember the sounds on the take off roll.
