My original spotting position had me in a straight headon view of the two Growlers when they taxied up and then spun around to notch at the south edge of Alpha. And then, in the distance, the AWACS bird appeared on approach. But from the position I was in, I knew there was no way I'd get a click of all three jets in the same frame, so I had to hustle my a-s down Alpha to relocate myself in order to get a side angle view of the Navy warbirds so I would be able to capture the AWACS as it passed in the background above the two Growlers.

Can you imagine the two Wright brothers standing where I am standing and viewing this scene?? The questions they would be asking ... AND .. the stunned exclamations when they received answers??
Orville: "But where are the propellers??" "No propellers?" "Then what are they called?"" "Speak up; I couldn't hear what you said."" "They're what??" "Jets?"
Wilbur: "So those pod-looking things under the wings; what do they do?" Wilbur & Orville: "They WHAAAAT??"
Wilbur (to Orville): "Hah! They'll never get off the ground."
Orville: "Well, what the heck is that big disky thing on that white - what do you call it - oh, yeah, on that white JET and what does IT do?" Orville & Wilbur: "It does WHAAAAT?"
Orville (to Wilbur): "Geez! Come up with a great invention and right away other people start screwin' it up. Let's go ride our bikes." "Huh?" "Oh, sorry, I said LET'S GO RIDE OUR BIKES.
(And as they are walking away) ... Wilbur (to Orville): "Orv, didja see? One of 'em is a GIRL?"

I don't understand that both NAVY jets have the same number.

They're in different units (VAQ-131 "Lancers" and VAQ-136 "Gauntlets"). The "502" numerals aren't their USN "reg" numbers; they are their squadron numbers. The "Lancers" have a "500" (<< the CAG's bird; a "501," a "502,' etc; and so does the "Gauntlets" squadron.
Hey, adelma, howdy. Please resend your e/m addy to me at [email protected] I accidentally deleted it and I've got some pics of the "Top Gun: Maverick" F-18 Hornet ... with Tom Cruise waving to me, as it is landing about 60 feet away. ** Read my Comment under the Warthog photo I posted a few days ago where I offered to send it to Serge L,, Jorgianne, and a bunch of others. I'll be emailing them on May 27th; the day the movie premiers. **
** Douglas >> You also. Please read my Comment under my recent Warthawg pic. I need an e/m addy so I can send to you on the 27th. Don't post it here: send it to [email protected]
** Masonite, Marylou A., wavebuff, and others -- Same as above. Please read the Comment under my Warthawg photo from several days ago. If not interested; that's fine, but I want to make the offer as a way of saying Thanx for your support. None of the "Top Gun Maverick" pics will be shared here or in any public forum. ***

@themold, notice the tail paint. There are two different insignia. One is a knights helmet with lightning bolts and tail letters NL and the other is a sword in a clenched fist with tail letters NE.

Great Shot
CHRIS ROBEY
Nice shot Gary! Those two EA-18G's have more available thrust combined than the Sentry...
Michael Boring
