Comments
Although the top of Rattlesnake Mountain is not visible in this snap, this click offers a "mind's eye" idea of the camera view of aircraft on approach to RNO from the south when a photographer is willing to take about 25 minutes or so and climb the somewhat steep trail that leads to the top of Rattlesnake Mountain. Because the aircraft are almost to the runway as they pass by The Snake, a photographer who is standing at the top is actually able to snap pics of the aircraft as they pass by either level with or below the photog. This particular photo was taken at around 5:20 PM and by that time the sun is in the west. As a result, the side of the aircraft facing toward The Snake is, as seen here, in shadow and the sun is shining AT the camera, so the best time to get photos from The Snake is from sunrise until about noon or 1 PM at the latest. AND ... when hiking up and down on The Snake, it is wise to remember that the mountain is named Rattlesnake for a very good reason, so be vigilant ... ESPECIALLY in early AM, late afternoon, spring, summer, and fall. In other words, ALWAYS! LOL (Also, there are no trees or any shade or protection from the elements up there, either. And no, you can't be lazy and drive up; you gotta hike up. So there won't be any wussies up there.) (Grin)
just LOVE your descriptions
What an absolute cracker of a shot. As to wussies, a lot of them wouldn't even walk 10 minutes to get a shot. If they can't drive to a photo location, they won't bother, well at least that's what we get here and I guess it's not much different anyhwere.
OMG! This is an amazing shot! The mountain background with a sharp looking UPS livery makes this a breathtaking photo! Filling in all 5 but deserves much more! Well done my friend!
