Cool Beans!
I can still smell the interior of the new c337 I ferried from ICT to BIL. Made my nipples hard.
In 1970 (+/-), my dad's friend had one (A Super Skyhawk), that was STOL equipped and had the luggage belly. I believe he referred to the plane as a Pregnant Pelican. He had had the windows double layered to help with the sound. One of the reasons why, 50 years later, I am finally working on my Part 61.
My brother flew the Oscar deuce in Vietnam out of DaNang
Hey! I I may have flown that airplane in Viet Nam! I was a pilot in the 9th SOS and arrived at Phan Rang AB in the Spring of 1971. Of course, our aircraft didn't look that pretty back then and didn't have the squadron emblem on painted on the nose.
From the other two pics of #446 on this website, I'm not sure that it's the same airframe I flew in the 9th SOS, however. This one has plexiglass in the lower portion of the right door, like the FAC birds had. The lower portion of our doors were aluminum. Also, there's apparently a baggage door under the right rear pax window of this airplane. The 9th SOS birds had a large magnesium cone loudspeaker in that location. Sure is a pretty airplane, though, and brings back a lot of memories.

In 1967 and 68 I was stationed at Keesler AFB, Biloxi. About once a month an O-2 without military markings would come in in the evening and be parked in the boonies off the end of the runway. Early the next morning it would depart. When I asked about it, I was told it carried nitroglycerin for use of the oil companies. I can't confirm that as fact, but that aircraft was never parked anywhere else on the base and never stayed more than overnight.
Haven't seen one of these old timers for awhile. A "push-pull" O-2.
My FIL was in Vietnam in 1968 with C Flight, 9th SOS, 14 SOW, at Nha Trang. He mostly flew C-47B Dakotas (for which he was awarded a DFC) but had some friends who flew O-2B Super Skymasters and he managed to log a few hours in them as well. His patches from that time include Snoopy on his doghouse too.
