McDonnell Douglas FA-18 Hornet (16-9128)
Was attending the plane crazy event at Mojave & spoted this static display.
The Blue Angles were performing up the map at (KNID) Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake so it looks like this was moved to make room.

Looks like an EA18 Growler.
This is a great pic, Matt, but are you 100% certain this is a Sopwith Triplane and that its reg number is "VX9"? I am inclined to agree with Roy.
Affirmative on the EA-18G , I tried for ever to get the type to accept in the block of description & it will not go here. I looked at other hornet photos & they had FA18 but the page rejected my attempts. "Invalid aircraft type"
Matt ... Enter "F18". It will accept. Granted, it is an EA-18G, but anything close is better than "Sopwith." Also, "VX-9" is not the reg; it is the squadron identifier: VX-9 stands for AIRTEVRON9 (Air Test And Evaluation Squadron Nine). The VX-9 "Vampires" are based at China Lake. The a/c reg is a six-digit number. All begin with the same two numbers: 16????. Unfortunately, the number on this one is obscured.
Right Gary , I did all that & zip..so I was grabbing at anything & now the abbreviations are ,well not what I wanted. I am thinking it is my browser here at work. Bureau # (169128) N/A. I have & tried it too. I did post the info you provided in the block with the picture. I will attempt to edit...SMH.
