The "Patron Fifty" tail flash "patch" on Joel's RV-7A honors the United States Navy's Patrol Squadron Fifty "Blue Dragons"; a WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Navy unit that was disestablished in 1992 at NAS Moffett Field, ending the unit's proud 46 year history.
