Boeing Globemaster III (99-0165) - Thousands and thousands of tons of USAF heavy metal here on the Atlantic Aviation ramp at Reno Tahoe International. Three of the many visiting military metal aircraft are visible (or partially visible) in this shot: a C-17A Globemaster III (99-0165) of the 445th AW at Wright-Patterson in Ohio is front and center. Next, just behind it, is 63-8004, a KC-135R from Kansas, and behind that is a Memphis-based Globemaster. Not visible in this photo because they are ramped behind the Memphis C-17 are three more aircraft: a C-17A (02-1112) displaying the Mississippi tail flash of the 172nd AW, another KC-135R (63-8030) from Hawaii, and a C-130 from Channel Islands. br /Click on FULL for best Q viewing. PS: That Falcon looks a little out of place in that lineup. (Grin)

The 146th AW's Hercules (97-1468) from Channel Islands has been here for several days and has been being parked over on the west side of the airport on the Nevada Air Guard "High Rollers" ramp. The C-17s and KC-135s have all arrived within the past 24 hours. There was a 4th Globemaster here but I missed getting a capture of it. The two KC-135s that were here earlier last week are both gone. If only a KC-10 and a C-5 would drop by for a visit, I wouldn't have to keep driving over the Sierra Nevada to take snaps at KSUU (Travis) ... because except for the fact that there aren't any KC-10s or C-5s, our ramp at RNO is almost as busy with military aircraft as the one at Travis AFB (lol).

A "Bravo" photo, Gary... you've captured a gathering of "eagles" it seems, so to speak!!! Thanks for sharing this one with us. :-)

Nice line-up!

Hi to Cliff and Isaac. TY for your comments, guys. Also, the fourth C-17 is the 105th AW's 96-0005 (New York Air Guard) from Newburgh-Stewart IAP. I got it today back on the Atlantic ramp. Reno-Tahoe International is so full of USAF birds that perhaps the name should be changed ... to Reno Tahoe AFB. (Big grin)

Gary, judging by your photo capture and descriptions, such would be an appropriate name change!

Awesome Gary, Cliff, I believe it should Schenauer AFB! :D

Excellent shot as usual Gary. 5*! Good idea Roy! LOL! How about Olde Carl Aerodrome... Schenauer International Jetport... certainly Gary holds the record for HQ aviation photography there! :)

Wonder what our friend has to say about our suggestions.......

Roy... I like your suggestion... "Schenauer AFB" has nice "ring" to it... :-)

ROTFLMBO! :-) You guys are nuts. *lolololololol* Most, maybe even ALL, Air Force bases are named after pilots who are MoH recipients, or Airmen's Medal recipients. A gumbah with a camera and who has never been even remotely qualified to occupy ANY seat in the business office of an aircraft sure doesn't merit such recognition. Two years ago, I received a surprise invitation to TopGun's training center at NAS Fallon and I "flew" one of their F-16 simulators for an hour. One of the TG instructors, a lady Major, was my "tutor." In honor of it being my first-ever piloting experience, my name was Gary "Cherry Boy" Schenauer and my call sign was "Cherry One." *lolol* Even tho it was only in a simulator, I came out of there soaked in sweat. But it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I'll never forget. However, based on how well I "flew" the Viper that day, there will NEVER be an AFB named for me. (Huge laugh!) But TY for the thought, guys. Just mentioning such an idea, even while just joking around, is a bit of praise from you guys that I deeply appreciate. TYVVM.

PS ... Recalling that invitation where I spent a couple hours at TopGun at KNFL reminded me just now ... Three weeks ago, I received another invitation but this one is from an Air Force unit to bring my camera and myself for a tour. It is still a few weeks away so I'll have more info as the day approaches. (Thumbs Up)

Keep up the great work, Gary! And I also like Schenauer AFB.
