Why did an owner from Tennessee park a DC -3, painted in Aer Lingus {Ireland] livery, on the grass in Zweibrucken, Germany?
Date of the photo 06/11/2021
The DC-3 was bought by Springbok Classic Air (ZS-NTE) in South Africa in 2015 by the owner of Zweibrücken Airport and flown to ZQW. In 2017 she was repainted in Ireland in the colors of Air Lingus and flown at various events. It has had a new owner and ID since 2021.
For details of the restoration of this aircraft in South Africa, see http://www.dc-3.co.za/dc-3-south-african-operators/springbok-classic-air.html
My very first flight was a very bumpy one on one of these from Dublin to Liverpool 60 years ago!!! Wow, the memories. Thanks for this.
Mom would be proud! ✈️

DC-3 service was still active from Boston to Provincetown, even in 1976, with a flyover at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Point!
The most beautiful airliner ever created.
What a beautiful bird!
San Juan ( SJU ) had DC-3's linedup for South Am service when I was last there :-)
