Check out the undercarriage! Aaah, those Russians!
@Alan Hume not very different from the C-5 Galaxy undercarriage. Aaah, those Americans!
Only the Russians had it first. Ahh, those Russians.
The more interesting feature are the twin nose wheels. There were some designers in the US who claimed it could not be done. The total weight of a large aircraft is limited by how much weight a single truck nose wheel can carry. You will notice that there are no US aircraft with a twin nose wheels. By the way, just because the Russians designed twin nose wheels doesn't mean they work well. There are only a couple of Russian transports that have such nose gear.
Just......Aaah it! Cool to watch!!
This aircraft has been ferrying GE engines between Columbus OH and Everett WA regularly for a couple months. They have been keeping it in Columbus OH. Might be a good chance to see it if your timing is right and you live close enough.
