Fantastic shot.

Given the VC-25A (aka Air Force One) has mid-air refueling capabilities, I wonder how often the Air Force does training for the two aircraft.

Very cool.

Nice Shot Jay. Love the Lears! The fighter jets of biz-jets!

The ICAO type designator is WACF. The manufacturer's model is YMF5.

Written on 24/04/2024 by 8literbeater

@adelma Definitely a 400. The wingtips are white so they blended in with the vertical stabilizer in the background. I had to look twice myself :-)

This is a StationAir II - not a Skyhawk

Similar situation when the President visits NYC, his Delaware home, and places he visits. I've seen 3 escorts with a tanker over NYC when the UN was having a big shindig last year. Tough one to spot and photograph at the same time. This shot a big 10 vote. Oh, I forgot members are still using the same outdated scale 0-5.

Written on 23/04/2024 by warmwynds

Wow, looks like it's still flying. Where did you catch this shot?

Written on 23/04/2024 by Tom Glass

This reminds me of 9-11 when the Air Force was running race tracks over NYC for weeks. You would look up and see the tanker at at least 30,000 feet and the little speck of a fighter would pull up for fuel.
Scary times

Dang - that's impressive detail for using an extender. Optics have come a long way in the last ~50 years!

Nice photo Peter.

Does that bring back some memories. My logbook says I flew this one a few times with Air Midwest. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Thanks Sam.

Amazing shot the beast in the background

Dennis Miller ~ Maybe if you look at it as a training flight, perhaps that is how they justified spending the money? Our pilots do need the training. In a case like this, it is a win-win (unless you as a taxpayer don't believe we need a military in this country)?

Great photo!! Cool seeing a field photo rather than at an airport / heliport!

Thanks everyone. Please see my pics I will be posting over the next week from the Thunder over Louisville airshow from this past weekend. Got some great stuff coming up!

Sharp looking jets. Are they part of a larger flight demo team?

Aloha A Mentor! Thanks for your insightful comments.

If you try to input this particular B-25 into FlightAware, it defaults to "TB-25." I don't know why and I tried to fix it but it keeps setting it to "TB-25."

In the list of aircraft to choose from on the drop down list, the North American B-25 defaults to "TB-25." There are no other "B-25" options. It does say, when you choose "TB-25" that it is a, "twin engine." My guess is it defaults to "TB-25" due to that.

If you do not like it or disagree with how FlightAware runs their website, I suggest you take it up with them and leave your snide comments to yourself before investigating. I, like pretty much everyone else here, is here to enjoy airplanes and their photos. I suggest you try to relax and do the same.
